1. Online. It’s way past time. What is next?
Stay on top of technology so you never fall behind! I have been teaching online and giving presentations and trying to get music teachers to teach online since 2015!
We are educators and our our primary focus is teaching students in the classroom or in our home studios. The prospect of taking our business online was daunting, even for the newest generation of music instructors.
When was the right time to go online? For those teachers who tried teaching online before Covid hit, the transition to online teaching was almost seamless. I didn’t miss a week of teaching; business as usual.
Today’s technology is constantly changing. We have to stay on top of technology to best serve our students.
Whether it’s helping my students prepare for college applications or finding the best tutoring or college counseling recommendations; I’m with them all the way.
I help my adult students gain advanced technic skills passed down from generations of my piano teachers that can be traced all the way back to the students of Beethoven and Liszt!

2. Make your marketing count. Think like an entrepreneur!
Challenge yourself. Go beyond your comfort zone of teaching. Brag a little about your strengths. Your potential pool of students just doubled.
Word of mouth still has the most impact on how parents and adults choose their music instructor, so ask your current students for quotes to put on your website.
A picture is a worth a thousand words. Choosing a music teacher if a very personal choice based on many factors. Share whatever you can to give potential students a sense of who you, how you teach, and the type of studio that you run.
Are you the type of teacher who has loads of patience for very young students or do you prefer to work with more advanced students preparing for competitions? Perhaps you can work with all of these types of students, including adults.
Flaunt your successes and invite opportunities to work with new students. What makes you unique could be the very thing that attracts new students.
3. Your studio policy represents your music studio. Professionalism counts.
